Our school is supported by a School Governance Committee fulfilling a similar role to that carried out by school governors in the UK.
The main functions of the School Governance Committee (SGC) are:
To provide a strategic view - by helping to set and keep under review the broad framework within which the Headteacher and staff should run the school.
To act as a critical friend - by giving support, advice and information drawing on its members' knowledge and experience.
To ensure accountability - by discussing and questioning such matters as the school's performance and contributing to its effectiveness.
The SGC has committees for the curriculum, data, finance and premises. The CO of 26 Regt Royal Artillery is the Chair of Haig School SGC and we have representation from Regiments and Units and parents from the community in the locality.
Join Haig School SGC
We are always keen to have new members on the SGC and a very warm welcome is assured to all of those who come forward to volunteer their services. The commitment in terms of time is really very small but the rewards in terms of the satisfaction of doing a worthwhile job could be considerable. Paid time off from work is allowed to attend these meetings. No prior knowledge or experience is required as a training package is offered.
Please contact the school headteacher to find out more about how to join Haig SGC.
Friends of Haig School
We aim to ensure that the pupils of Haig School get the most out of their time here. To do this we need to develop effective relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school.
How? By engaging together in activities, or providing facilities and equipment, which will support the school and advance the education of the children.
Want to know more? Just contact one of the Committee members, telephone or pop into school. We're always happy to meet new members and if you have any special skills to offer or an extra pair of hands for any of the events, please let us know.
The Friends of Haig School have raised loads of money for our children. We provide all new starters at school with their own water bottle and we give all Year 3 children their own recorder. We have bought staging and spotlights for the hall. We are always raising money to enahnce the provision offered to children at Haig School.
